| The Yard is situated in the
centre of Bath which means access can sometimes be difficult. If you
follow our recommendations below, you should avoid any queuing and
congestion. North: After leaving/ crossing the M4 follow ' brown' signs for the Racecourse, drive straight past and follow the road downhill into Bath. At the lights go left and take the first right, which is Walcot Street, look out for our signage and turn left into the Yard. East: Try and avoid the A4/ Bathampton Bypass/ London Road during the rush hour and 10am - 2pm on a Saturday. South:Whether you arrive via the A36 or A367, follow signs to London, turn left after the Fire Station and Cleveland bridge, take the next fork left which is Walcot Street. When leaving north and east avoid peak times on both London road and the Racecourse route unless you like being in traffic queues. We are not aware of any major problems going south on the A36, but the A367 can be congested at Radstock during rush hours. Parking:During the week we are able to offer limited parking in the Yard. On Saturday it is normally not a problem. There is parking on Walcot Street. 40p for 15 mins, thereafter 30p per minute. £ 2.50 for a maximum of 2 hours. Alternatively there is parking further down the road in The Podium. Look on the BANES website for Parking, Park and Ride, Bus Routes etc. N.B.If you are able to visit Bath at off peak times, say between 10am to 4pm on a weekday you will benefit from little or no congestion from other traffic coming in or out of Bath. Street parking should be freely available and a lot of businesses like ours are very pleased to see you! |

| The
Old Timber Yard is situated at the end of Tyning Road on the outskirts
of the village of Bathampton which is east of Bath city centre and south
of the River Avon. North: From the Motorway follow the A46 past the junction with the A420 until "its" junction with the A4. (Large roundabout with lights). Take the 1st right towards Batheaston. Immediately after "The Wagon & Horses" look out for signs to the right for Bathampton via Toll Bridge, 4 ton limit. Take this right, have 50 pence ready for the toll. Proceed over the river bridge and the bridges over the railway and dual carriage way. At "The George" turn sharp left and then go straight on down Tyning Road, look out for the Thomas Firbank sign, passing the Primary School on your left, ignoring the right turn over the canal bridge. Try and avoid "the schoolrun" times of day as the area around the school can be very congested. Please take special care looking out for children in the road. This lane is narrow so proceed with caution. Turn right at the end of the lane, the gates to The Old Timber Yard are in front of you. East:At the junction of the A4 with the A363 take the right hand (3rd exit) to Batheaston. After passing through the centre of the village look out for a sign pointing to the left for Bathampton via Toll Bridge. Have your 50 pence ready and carefully negotiate the sharp left down to the bridge and proceed as above... looking out for the Thomas Firbank sign. South:If coming via the A36 from the Warminster direction, the outskirts of Bathampton are signalled by a sweeping 90° bend with housing on the right and left. Look out for a sign signalling a right turn to Bathampton Village just after the 30mph sign. Take the right turn and at the bottom of Down Lane turn right. Proceed through the village and as you approach the canal bridge prepare to turn right immediately after it. (Look left towards "The George" as you crest the bridge). You are now in Tyning Road. Proceed as above... If you are coming via A367 from the Shepton Mallet direction, at the junction with the A36 at the bottom of the The Wellsway, turn right following signs for Warminster. After leaving the centre the road rises over the railway and canal, continue through the traffic lights and as the road levels off look out for a sign for an oblique left turn to Bathampton Village. Take this turn and follow directions as above... (There is a bus, Service No. 4, from High Street, in the City Centre to Holecombe Vale Loop, Holecombe Vale, Bathampton. This leaves on and 1/2 past the hour.) |
